Legion Gold Reckoning: Slot Overview
Software provider Play'n GO soldiers on with another addition to its steadily growing array of Legion Gold slots that began in 2023. The current release here is Legion Gold Reckoning, and as its siblings have done, it takes what came before, mechanically, and adds a bit extra. The extra in this instance includes a Go Ultra ante bet, which is something you don't see a lot of from this provider, as well as a set of jackpot prizes, which you do. Otherwise, Legion Gold Reckoning is a case of more Gold Respins, Mega Spins, and ancient Roman imagery, handsomely presented.
Even if the action in Legion Gold games leaves you limp, they are generally good-looking spectacles, and Legion Gold Reckoning is no exception. In this one, players join presumably Ceaser on his terrace as he looks out over a city with a glorious amphitheatre up on a hill, surveying the glory and power of the Empire. The Empire's not looking so glorious during Mega Spins, though, as the whole place has been set on fire and it rages in flames. It's quite thought-provoking. How one day an empire can feel all-powerful, maybe even eternal, the next it's dust in the wind. Suppose everything in the three-dimensional realm has its birth, life, death, and decay into oblivion. Moving on.

A 5x3 grid is Legion Gold Reckoning's play area, which has 25 paylines evaluating winning combinations starting from the leftmost reel. As all of the Legion Gold slots have been so far, Legion Gold Reckoning is a medium volatile, and at the highest possible RTP, the value is 96.2%. As well as choosing a stake of $/€0.10 to $/€50, players are able to use the Go Ultra ante bet.
The animal high pay symbols are eye-catching, depicting an eagle, horse, bull, and lion. They pay 8x to 20x the bet for a 5 OAK winning combination. Beneath them are J-A royals, awarding 2x the bet for five-of-a-kind. The wild substitutes for all symbols except scatters, Gold Coins, and the Gold Coin Bag. Wilds land on all reels and have the same payout values as the lion.
Legion Gold Reckoning: Slot Features

The features are more or less the same as they have been before, as Gold Respins and Mega Spins return, but this time Legion Gold Reckoning has a Coin Chest that can award local jackpot prizes.
Gold Respins
Landing 6 Gold Coins in the base game triggers 3 Gold Respins, where only Gold Coins and the Gold Coin Bag can land. Gold Coins are sticky, and landing one resets the spin count. When spins end, each Gold Coin has a value of 1x to 1,000x the stake and the total is paid. If Gold Coins fill the grid, an additional 1,000x Golden Prize is awarded on top of the Gold Coin values on the reels.
Gold Coin Bag
Landing a Gold Coin Bag awards the total value of all Gold Coins currently on the reels. Gold Coins can be collected multiple times during Gold Respins. During respins, Gold Coin Bags do not stick, but they do reset the spin count.
Coin Chest
If Gold Coins land without a Gold Coin Bag or triggering Gold Respins, they are collected by the Coin Chest. When this happens, there is a chance the Coin Chest opens, and a Picker Game commences. Picking three of the same prize awards its value. This could be the 10x Mini, 25x Minor, 100x Major, or the 500x Grand Prize.
Mega Spins
Hitting 3 scatters triggers 5 Mega Spins. The 3x3 Mega symbol lands on a random position on each spin. The feature can be retriggered by landing the Mega Scatter, up to a cap of 45 spins. Gold Respins can be triggered from free spins when landing the Mega Gold Coin. It breaks down into 9 Gold Coins with random values. After respins play out, the game goes back to Mega Spins.
Go Ultra
When activated, the Go Ultra increases the stake by 50%, causing animal symbols to land more often in the base game and increasing the number of awarded Mega Spins to 6. The number of awarded Gold Coin Respins is increased to 4, as well.

Legion Gold Reckoning: Slot Verdict
Legion Gold Reckoning cleaves tightly to the 'if it ain't broke, don' t fix it' ethos characteristic of the series. Legion Gold laid the foundations, and successive releases have made various alterations. These have included the Victory Prize, the Golden Prize, and Legion Gold Reckoning performs a couple of tricks of its own. One is the Coin Chest, and okay, it is close to the aforementioned Victory Prize, but its rewards are more clearly stated and are linked to a Picker Game. Prizes are listed next to the reels, and presenting them this way puts Legion Gold Reckoning firmly in the local jackpot camp, which will evoke feelings of yay or yawn depending on preference.
Possibly of more interest from a slot connoisseur perspective is the Go Ultra, which isn't exclusive to Legion Gold Reckoning, but it's not a hugely popular extra either, at the time of writing at least. Mandalay Bay Riches sported it, as did Rise of Olympus 1000, for example, so its usage is picking up. Perhaps Play'n GO will expand deeper into bonus buys as well in future Legion Gold releases; time will tell. For now, bonus rounds only trigger organically in Legion Gold Reckoning to enter the rather dry Gold Coin Respins feature or the Mega symbol Wolf Gold-like round.
Another thing separating Legion Gold Reckoning from previous LG slots is the much expanded winning potential of 10,000x the bet, which is more than double that of its peers. Even so, the bigger top prize probably isn't enough of a sweetener to tempt gamblers who haven't been impressed by what's preceded this. Though on a brighter side, returning players should be happy with the same but more approach the developer has taken once again.
Despite boasting significantly greater winning potential and more extras, Legion Gold Reckoning still feels like business as usual.
